About WorldPhotoSpecs

What this site is

WorldPhotoSpecs is a reference work: one article per document, giving the photo size, pixel dimensions, background, head size and other rules exactly as the issuing authority publishes them. It currently covers 576 documents in 213 countries and territories, backed by 4,562 links to official sources.

How articles are written

Every article starts from the issuing authority's own pages: passport offices, embassies, immigration departments, transport operators and exam boards. Where precision matters we quote the official wording word for word, in a block marked "In the official words", and link the page it came from.

See the editorial policy for how sources are chosen, checked and corrected.

Who can edit

Only WorldPhotoSpecs editors can change articles. Every change is recorded in the article history and listed on Recent changes.

Using the information

Requirements change, and the issuing authority always has the final word. Check the linked official page before you submit an application. WorldPhotoSpecs is not affiliated with any government.
