Cuba tourist card photo requirements
The photo rules set by Consulado General de Cuba en Sevilla for the Cuba tourist card, with the official wording and sources.
Quick answer
What are the Cuba tourist card photo requirements?
No photo is needed. Cuba's tourist card has been replaced by an electronic tourist visa issued through eVisaCuba, and the requirements Cuban consulates publish are a valid passport, an email address and payment; the visa is linked to your passport number. The D'Viajeros entry form that follows collects travel, customs and health details, and no official description of it mentions a photo. No official source gives a 45 x 45 mm size for the tourist card.
The tourist card (tarjeta del turista) was Cuba's simplified tourist visa: a single-entry paper card sold by Cuban consulates, travel agencies and airlines. From mid-2024, Cuban consulates switched to an electronic tourist visa issued through the eVisaCuba website; Germany's consulate dates the change to 10 July 2024 and Norway's to 12 August 2024. In February 2026, Cuba's consular office in Panama stated that the tourist card had ceased to have effect from 1 January.
Consulates still use the old name: Seville lists its fee for a "tourist card (online tourist visa)". The electronic visa is valid for one entry and a stay of 90 days, which can be extended by another 90 days in Cuba. Cuba's 2026 migration regulation adds that it can be used for one year from issue and can be obtained online, in person at a consulate, or through an authorised travel agency or airline.
Once the visa is issued, you complete D'Viajeros, the digital entry form run by the Ministry of Transport. It produces a PDF with a QR code that you show to the airline before boarding and to Cuban border officers on arrival.

Key requirements
- Passport and email, no photo
Seville's consulate lists two requirements for the tourist visa: a valid passport, to which the visa is linked, and a valid email address for receiving the visa code. Norway and Prague add proof of payment, and they and Panama ask for a passport valid for at least six months. None of them lists a photograph.
- Paper card withdrawn
Printed tourist cards have been phased out. Cuba's consular office in Panama said in February 2026 that the card no longer had effect from 1 January, and the Ministry of Tourism announced that Air Canada passengers would stop receiving the card on board from 27 December 2024.
- A code, not a sticker
The approved visa arrives by email as a code. A Ministry of Tourism director said in January 2025 that it has ten characters and is entered on D'Viajeros, which then generates the QR code presented to immigration.
- One entry, 90 days
Panama's consulate says the visa can be used for one year from purchase until you enter Cuba, and then allows 90 days in the country, extendable by 90 more. It is valid for a single entry.
- Apply ahead of travel
Seville says replies come within 72 business hours, and Panama asks travellers to apply at least 72 hours before the travel date.
- Tourism only
The online system covers tourist trips. Business, press, family and other visas are still requested through Cuban consulates, and those do ask for printed photos.
Do's and don'ts
Do
- Apply on eVisaCuba or at a Cuban consulate before you travel.
- Enter your names, passport number and citizenship exactly as they appear in your passport.
- Check that your passport is valid for at least six months.
- Keep the emailed visa code and use it on D'Viajeros.
- Carry the D'Viajeros PDF with its QR code for the airline and the border.
- Request a separate visa for each child travelling with you.
Don't
- Do not order photo prints for the tourist visa: none is on the requirement lists.
- Do not rely on an old paper tourist card for travel in 2026.
- Do not use the tourist visa for business, press or work trips.
- Do not buy the visa from unauthorised sellers; consulates and authorised agencies or airlines issue it.
Babies and children
Minors need their own electronic tourist visa even when they are registered in a parent's passport, according to Cuban consular pages. When the visa is requested in person, the Caracas consulate asks for one application form per traveller, minors included.
As for adults, no photo is listed for a child's tourist visa.
Printed and digital photos
There is nothing to print or upload for a photo. The published requirements for the electronic tourist visa are a valid passport, an email address and payment, and the visa itself is a code tied to your passport number. What you need to carry is the D'Viajeros PDF with its QR code.
Before the switch, some consulates did ask for a print with the paper card application. New Zealand's 2022 instructions asked for one passport-size colour photo per applicant, and the embassy in Thailand asked in 2021 for one 2-inch photo with any background colour. Those instructions describe the withdrawn paper card, not the electronic visa.
Where to submit the photo
Apply online on eVisaCuba, choosing the country where you request the visa, or in person at a Cuban consulate. Authorised travel agencies, tour operators and airlines also sell it. Payment methods vary by consulate: Caracas takes payment in person, while Norway asks for a bank transfer before you apply.
Then complete D'Viajeros. Consulates describe it as the place to enter the details needed by immigration, customs and public health, and say it can be edited before you arrive. Consular notices have given different windows for completing it, from 72 hours to seven days before travel, so follow the instructions in your visa email.

Cuba tourist card photo FAQ
No. The tourist card has been replaced by an electronic tourist visa, and the consular requirement lists for it name a valid passport, an email address and proof of payment, but no photograph. Consular visas such as the family or business visa still need printed photos.
Cuba's consular office in Panama stated in February 2026 that the tourist card stopped having effect on 1 January, and that tourists now need the electronic visa. Some consulates still call the electronic visa a "tourist card" in their fee lists.
No official description of D'Viajeros mentions one. Consulates describe it as a form for the personal data needed by immigration, customs and public health, which produces a PDF with a QR code. The form itself is a web application that could not be inspected for this page.
It is valid for a single entry. Panama's consulate says it can be used within one year of purchase; once you arrive, you may stay 90 days, and the stay can be extended by another 90 days through the Cuban immigration authorities.
Online on the eVisaCuba portal, in person at a Cuban consulate, or through an authorised travel agency, tour operator or airline. The approved visa is emailed as a code that you then enter on the D'Viajeros form.
No official source read gives one. The 4.5 x 4.5 cm size appears on Cuban consular forms for visas and for Cuban citizens' passports, not in the tourist visa requirements. If an office does ask you for a photo, ask which size it wants.
Yes. Cuban consulates say minors need their own electronic tourist visa even when they are listed in a parent's passport. As for adults, the requirements do not include a photo.
