Cameroon visa photo requirements
The photo rules set by Embassy of the Republic of Cameroon, Washington DC for the Cameroon visa, with the official wording and sources.
Quick answer
What are the Cameroon visa photo requirements?
Cameroon publishes no photo size for its visa. Since 30 April 2023 every ordinary visa is applied for on the evisacam.cm portal, where you upload scanned documents, pay and receive an approval with a QR code. Your photo and fingerprints are then captured in person, at the embassy that affixes the visa sticker or at the border post when you arrive. Diplomatic and service visas can differ: Berlin asks for two passport photos, with no size stated.
Since 30 April 2023, following announcements by Cameroon's Ministry of External Relations (MINREX), all Cameroonian embassies and consulates have taken visa applications only through the evisacam.cm portal. The Marseille consulate asks people to stop coming in or posting applications, the London High Commission accepts no walk-in applications, and The Hague says no file submitted outside the platform will be processed. Washington bases its visa categories on Decree No. 2023/147 of 2 March 2023.
The online file holds scans of your passport data page, travel booking, yellow fever certificate, proof of funds and the purpose of your trip. When the visa is approved you download an authorisation with a QR code. The visa itself is a sticker placed in your passport, issued only after biometric enrolment in person: at the embassy or high commission if you can get there, or at the border control post when you land in Cameroon.
That is why the official pages read for this page give no photo size, background or pixel count. Washington's January 2026 list of documents to upload contains no photograph, and London says the photo, fingerprints and signature are taken at enrolment for every visa application, even if you were enrolled before.

In the official words
Exact wording from the official sources, quoted because the details matter:
BIOMETRIC ENROLMENT (PHOTO & FINGERPRINTS CAPTURE) / AFFIXING OF VISA STICKER IN YOUR VALID PASSPORT - Done in-person only
Key requirements
- Apply only on evisacam.cm
Ordinary visa applications are accepted only through the evisacam.cm platform. The Marseille consulate's notice adds that any other platform does not come from Cameroon's consular services (translated from French).
- Scans, not phone pictures
Upload each document as a scan. Tokyo and Ottawa refuse photographed documents, Tokyo also refuses screenshots and asks for each document separately, and Washington rejects illegible or poor-quality files.
- Biometrics in person
Washington's instructions say biometric enrolment, meaning photo and fingerprint capture, is done in person only and requires the traveller to be present, minors included. London makes it mandatory for every visa application.
- Embassy or border post
If you live near the mission, it enrols you and affixes the sticker; Washington DC residents must come to the embassy. Others can travel with the printed QR-code approval and receive the sticker at the airport or another border entry point.
- Names exactly as in the passport
Marseille warns that misspelt or reversed names, wrong passport numbers and other data errors lead to refusal, a delay, or cancellation of the visa when the QR code data and the passport do not match.
- By road or sea, get the visa first
The UK government's travel advice says e-visas cannot be obtained at land or sea borders. Travellers arriving that way need a physical visa from a Cameroon embassy or high commission before they set off.
- Diplomatic visas differ
Washington handles diplomatic and official visas by email or in person, and takes a photograph without fingerprinting when the sticker is issued. Berlin asks for two passport photos with a diplomatic or service visa application.
Do's and don'ts
Do
- Apply on evisacam.cm and nowhere else.
- Scan each document separately, as a PDF or JPEG.
- Enter your names exactly as printed in your passport.
- Print the approval with its QR code before you travel.
- Bring your original passport and documents to biometric enrolment.
Don't
- Do not upload phone photos or screenshots of documents.
- Do not travel without a visa sticker or a QR-code approval.
- Do not expect an e-visa at a land or sea border.
- Do not post your visa application to a consulate.
- Do not pay for a long-stay visa before checking that you qualify.
Babies and children
Children go through biometric enrolment too: Washington says the in-person step requires the physical presence of the traveller, minors included. For applicants under 18 it asks for the child's birth certificate, a notarised parental authorisation even when the child travels with a parent, and identification of the parents.
Washington also wants a notarised letter of support signed by both parents, naming who travels with the child. Tokyo asks for a parental authorisation legalised by the competent authorities, the passport page of the parent or guardian travelling with the child, and the flight itinerary for both.
Printed and digital photos
For an ordinary visa you send no photo prints and, on the official lists read for this page, no photo file. Everything you upload is a scan: Washington recommends PDF with a 5 MB limit per file, and Tokyo asks for JPEG scans, one document per file. The photo is captured when you enrol, at the mission or at the border.
Printed photos appear only on the diplomatic side, where Berlin asks for two passport photos without giving a size. None of the official pages read for this page asks for the 40 x 40 mm, 2 x 2 inch (51 x 51 mm) or 500 x 500 pixel visa photos that the photo tool offers, so check your mission's current instructions before printing any.
Where to submit the photo
Start on evisacam.cm: create an account, complete the form, upload your documents and pay online. Files are handled by the mission for your place of residence. Washington, for instance, covers the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, the Bahamas and several other territories, and people who are only visitors there must apply through the mission nearest their country of citizenship.
After approval, Ottawa residents are contacted by email or SMS to book biometric enrolment at the High Commission, and London enrols applicants Monday to Thursday mornings. Tokyo sends an email to book an appointment, while Marseille affixes the sticker if needed once you have the QR code. Anyone who cannot reach a mission travels with the printed approval and enrols on arrival.

Cameroon visa photo FAQ
None is published. Ordinary visas are applied for on evisacam.cm with scanned documents, and your photo and fingerprints are captured in person when the visa sticker is issued, at the embassy or at the border post.
Washington's January 2026 list of documents to scan and upload contains no photograph: it covers your passport data page, travel booking, yellow fever certificate, proof of funds and purpose of travel. Follow whatever the portal itself asks for when you apply.
At the embassy or high commission that affixes your visa, or at a Cameroonian border post on arrival. London says biometric enrolment is required for every visa application, even if you have been enrolled before.
Not without applying first. The UK travel advice says you cannot get a visa on arrival at Yaoundé or Douala airport. With an approved e-visa and its QR code, the sticker is affixed at the airport or border post.
Yes. Washington states that the in-person biometric step requires the traveller's presence, including minors. Applications for children under 18 also need a birth certificate and a parental authorisation.
Marseille warns that wrong names or passport numbers can lead to refusal, delay, or cancellation of the visa if the QR code and passport do not match. Washington says an application marked On Hold must be edited and resubmitted on the portal.
It depends on the mission. Washington processes diplomatic and official visas from emailed files and takes a photograph, without fingerprints, when the sticker is issued. Berlin lists two passport photos for diplomatic or service visas.
