Equatorial Guinea visa photo requirements
The 35 × 45 mm photo rules set by Embassy of Equatorial Guinea in Washington, D.C. for the Equatorial Guinea visa, with the official wording and sources.
Quick answer
What size is the Equatorial Guinea visa photo?
The only official photo size found for an Equatorial Guinea visa is 35x45 mm, marked on the Washington embassy's visa application form. France's foreign ministry lists two ID photos for an embassy visa. For the e-visa at equatorialguinea-evisa.com, no official page read states a photo size, pixel size or file size. A photo and fingerprints are also recorded at the border on entry.
Equatorial Guinea issues visas by two routes. Embassies and consulates take paper applications: the Washington embassy has applicants complete an online form, print it and post it with proof of payment, the original passport and a prepaid return envelope. The e-visa is requested at equatorialguinea-evisa.com, which VFS Global runs as the government's technical partner, with the travel authorisation coming from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A notice dated 1 January 2025 on the embassy's site says the online visa system is a completely separate process from its own services.
The photo box on the Washington embassy's visa form is marked 35x45 mm. That form is an undated scan whose file was last changed in April 2017, and the embassy's requirements list, as it read in May 2026, does not itemise a photo. France's foreign ministry lists "deux photos d'identité" in an embassy visa file. No official page read gives a background colour, a recency period, a pixel size or a file size.
For the e-visa, the UK government says to complete the online form and upload the required documents. The pages read do not say whether a photo is one of them or in what format, and the portal needs a browser to run. Photos are taken at the border too: France says fingerprints and a photo are recorded at passport control on entry.

Key requirements
- Two routes, two sets of rules
You can apply at an embassy or consulate, or online on the e-visa portal. The Washington embassy says the online system is separate from its services and that it cannot answer inquiries about it.
- The 35x45 mm box
The embassy visa form carries a framed box labelled "Photo 35x45 mm". It is the only photo size on an official Equatoguinean document read, and it belongs to the paper route, not the e-visa.
- The photo count varies
France lists "deux photos d'identité" for an embassy short-stay visa file (translated from French). The Washington embassy's requirements list does not itemise a photo, but its form has a single photo box.
- No visa on arrival without approval
France says it is not possible to obtain the visa on arrival (translated from French). The UK government says to print the e-visa letter and present it on arrival, when border officials issue the visa.
- Photo and fingerprints at the border
France says fingerprints and a photo are recorded at the border police when you enter, and that the vaccination booklet must be shown. Its advice does not say whether this depends on how you applied.
- Use the portal the governments name
The French and UK governments both give equatorialguinea-evisa.com as the online application, and VFS Global's 2023 media release names the same address. No .gob.gq e-visa site could be found.
- One application per passport
The embassy form lists children and says applications must be submitted separately for each passport. For minors it asks for the signature of a custodian or guardian.
Do's and don'ts
Do
- Use equatorialguinea-evisa.com, the address both governments give.
- Ask the embassy that takes your file how many photos it needs.
- Print the approved e-visa letter and carry it to the border.
- Carry your yellow fever vaccination booklet.
- Submit a separate application for each passport.
Don't
- Do not rely on getting a visa on arrival without prior approval.
- Do not ask the embassy about e-visa problems: it says it cannot answer them.
- Do not treat 35x45 mm as confirmed for e-visa uploads.
- Do not use other e-visa websites that charge extra fees.

Illustrations, not real photos. The official rules above always take priority; some documents do not allow glasses at all.
Glasses
No official page read sets a glasses rule for a visa photo, on the embassy route or the e-visa. Follow whatever the embassy or the portal tells you when you apply.
Headwear and religious dress
None of the pages read says whether a head covering is allowed in a visa photo. If you wear one, ask the embassy before you print the photos.
Babies and children
The Washington embassy form lists children and says applications must be submitted separately for each passport, so every passport, a child's included, needs its own application. The form asks for the signature of a custodian or guardian for minors. No photo rule specific to children is published on the pages read.
Printed and digital photos
At an embassy, the photo is printed and goes on the paper form: the Washington form shows a box marked 35x45 mm (about 1.38 x 1.77 in). The e-visa is applied for online, so any photo it asks for would be a digital file, but no page read gives a pixel size or file size. A digital photo can be cropped and resized to the size the portal asks for, or printed on a 4x6 inch sheet at a photo counter for an embassy file.
Where to submit the photo
For an embassy visa, send the file to the mission that covers your country. Washington asks for the printed form, proof of payment, the original passport and a prepaid return envelope, and says it also accepts drop-off in person. For the e-visa, register at equatorialguinea-evisa.com, complete the form, upload the documents and pay online. France and the UK both say you can instead obtain the visa at an embassy before you travel.
