ICA uses the same standard for all four, allows headgear only for religious or racial customs, and does not accept altered or enhanced photos.

For a Singapore PR application, Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP), Student's Pass or citizenship application, ICA's document checklists ask for the same thing: a recent coloured digital photograph of 400 x 514 pixels with a white background, showing your full face.

These are the same rules as the Singapore passport photo, so one compliant photo can be used across ICA applications as long as it is recent. LTVPs for the family of work pass holders are handled by the Ministry of Manpower instead.

Key requirements

  • Face

    Full face, front view.

  • Headgear

    Not allowed, unless habitually worn for religious or racial customs. It must not hide your facial features.

  • Editing

    The photo must not be altered or enhanced.

  • PR application

    The PR application checklist lists a recent 400 x 514 pixel colour photo with a white background, submitted with the other documents on the checklist.

  • Citizenship application

    The citizenship document checklist uses the same wording: a coloured digital photograph taken recently, 400 x 514 pixels, white background and full face, with headgear allowed only for religious or racial customs.

  • Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP)

    For an LTVP issued by ICA, for example for spouses or parents of Singapore citizens, the checklist asks for a recent 400 x 514 pixel colour photo on a white background.

  • Student's Pass

    International students need a recent, passport-sized colour photograph taken within the last three months, uploaded at 400 x 514 pixels. Changing the photo on an issued Student's Pass means applying for a replacement pass, which carries a fee.
