Quick answer
What are the Thailand APEC Business Travel Card photo requirements?
For a Thai APEC Business Travel Card you upload a photo file, along with a signature file, in the online application on the JSCCIB website, where the Department of Consular Affairs sends Thai business travellers. No size, background, pixel or file limit is published. Applicants must be Thai nationals aged 25 or over with a Thai passport, and nothing is printed or handed in.
The APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) is a card for frequent business travellers between APEC economies. The Department of Consular Affairs of Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says cardholders get expedited entry to 21 APEC economies through APEC special lanes, and Australia administers the card system. Thailand issues the card as a physical card or a virtual card.
The department invites Thai business travellers to apply on the website of the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB), the joint body of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, the Federation of Thai Industries and the Thai Bankers' Association. You must work for a company that is a member of one of them, be a Thai national aged 25 or over holding a Thai passport, and hold a manager-level post with a salary of at least 50,000 baht. The company must have been registered for at least 3 years, or for 1 to 3 years with registered capital of at least 1 million baht.
The application is online. You, or an agent, open a user account, complete the ABTC form and upload scans of your passports, a signature file and a photo file, with company and bank papers. Once the participating economies have approved you, an email asks you to collect the card in Bangkok.

Key requirements
- A photo file, not a print
The JSCCIB document list asks every applicant, whether owner, shareholder or employee, for a photo file uploaded into the online application. There is no paper form and no photo to stick on.
- A signature file as well
A separate signature file is required. The sample card in JSCCIB's step-by-step guide shows both the photo and a signature on the face of the card.
- No published photo specification
Neither JSCCIB nor the Department of Consular Affairs publishes a size, background, pixel count or file limit for the ABTC photo. Ask the ABTC team through the contact details on the JSCCIB site if the system refuses your file.
- Eligibility comes first
Applicants are Thai nationals aged 25 or over with a Thai passport, at manager level with a salary of at least 50,000 baht, working for a company that belongs to the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade, the Federation of Thai Industries or the Thai Bankers' Association.
- Passports from the past 5 years
Upload your current passport and any passports used in the past 5 years. Thais working abroad upload every used page of the current passport and of those earlier ones.
- Thais abroad apply through staff
Thai nationals working overseas register through a separate link and email their documents to JSCCIB, whose staff fill in the application and upload the files for them. Company, employment and bank papers must first be certified by a local notary, the Thai embassy and the Department of Consular Affairs.
Do's and don'ts
Do
- Check the age, salary and company-membership criteria first
- Prepare a clear photo file and a signature file
- Scan your current passport and passports from the past 5 years
- Upload six months of bank statements
- Track approval on the APEC online status checker
- Bring certified ID copies when you collect the card
Don't
- Do not apply if you are not a Thai national with a Thai passport
- Do not apply if you are under 25
- Do not post printed photos: everything is uploaded
- Do not leave out the payment slip after paying the invoice
- Do not go to collect the card before the email arrives
Babies and children
Children cannot hold a Thai ABTC. Applicants must be at least 25 years old and work at manager level in an eligible company, so the card has no child or family category.
Printed and digital photos
Everything is digital. You upload a photo file and a signature file with the other scans, and you print nothing for the application. JSCCIB does not state a size, format or file limit for it.
The finished card is produced after approval and collected in person, by you or by someone you authorise. A virtual card is also issued in Thailand, and JSCCIB links to the official ABTC mobile app.
Where to submit the photo
Business applicants in Thailand register a user account on the JSCCIB website, fill in the ABTC form and upload the documents. The fee invoice is paid at Kasikorn Bank or by mobile banking, and the pay-in slip is scanned and uploaded. An electronic receipt follows by email within 14 working days.
Progress is shown on the APEC online status checker. When 19 economies have approved, JSCCIB emails you to collect the card at its office at 150 Ratchabophit Road, Bangkok, on Thursdays or Fridays. Bring a signed copy of the cardholder's ID card, a signed copy of the collector's ID card with a mobile number if someone collects for you, and a copy of the collection email.
