Comoros visa photo requirements
The 50 × 70 mm photo rules set by Ambassade des Comores en Belgique for the Comoros visa, with the official wording and sources.
Quick answer
What size is the Comoros visa photo?
Comoros visa photo rules depend on the route. For a business or courtesy visa, the Brussels embassy asks for 2 identity photos of 50 x 70 mm (1.97 x 2.76 in). For private visit, tourist and research visas, you apply at Prince Saïd Ibrahim International Airport or Ouani airport, where fingerprints and a photo are taken at a biometric desk. No background colour is published.
The Comoros requires a visa for foreigners. A law of 1988 lists the transit visa (up to five days, issued at the airport or port), the tourist visa (up to forty-five days) and the short-stay visa (up to three months, renewable once). It makes the Minister of the Interior the issuing authority, and lets Comorian diplomatic and consular offices issue transit, tourist, short-stay, courtesy and diplomatic visas on delegation.
In practice there are two photo routes. Visas applied for at the embassy in Brussels, such as the business visa and the courtesy visa, need two printed identity photos of 50 mm x 70 mm. Visas applied for at the airport on arrival need no print: the Brussels embassy says biometric enrolment, with fingerprints and a photo, is done at the airport and the visa is issued on the spot. The national tourism office also says that visitors of all nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival at the main airports or ports.
None of the official pages read describes an online visa application, so there is no upload size to follow. A stay of more than three months starts with a long-stay visa requested through the nearest Comorian mission.

Key requirements
- Embassy visas: two prints of 50 x 70 mm
The business visa list (for holders of an investment project in the Comoros) and the courtesy visa list (for diplomatic or service passports) both ask for "Deux photos d'identité (format 50 mm x 70 mm)". The lists do not say which side is the height.
- Airport visas: the photo is taken for you
Private visit, tourist and research visas are applied for on the spot. You go to the "Visa aéroport" area, where biometric enrolment is done and the visa is issued immediately. Enrolment, meaning fingerprints and a photo, is compulsory for every visa application, even if you already hold earlier visas.
- You must be present
The biometric visa requires the applicant's presence. Fingerprints are compulsory for everyone except children under 12, who must still attend.
- No colour or pose rule is published
None of the official pages read gives a background colour, head height, expression, glasses or headwear rule for a visa photo.
- Documents depend on the visa type
For the airport visas, a private visit needs a hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter, a tourist visa needs a hotel booking or proof of funds, and a research visa needs proof of housing, proof of funds or a scholarship certificate, and health insurance.
- Courtesy and business visas need a form and a letter
Both embassy lists ask for the completed and signed visa form, an invitation letter and a hotel booking confirmation. The courtesy list adds a note verbale and a mission order, and the business list adds proof of funds.
- Long stays start at a mission
A foreigner who wants to stay more than three months must request a long-stay visa from the Minister of the Interior through the nearest Comorian diplomatic or consular office. No photo rule is published for it.
Do's and don'ts
Do
- Print two photos of 50 mm x 70 mm for a business or courtesy visa at the Brussels embassy.
- Ask the mission that will handle your file for its photo size.
- Go to the "Visa aéroport" area on arrival and attend in person.
- Bring the supporting document listed for your visa type.
Don't
- Do not assume a square 2 x 2 inch print is accepted for an embassy visa; the lists give 50 mm x 70 mm.
- Do not skip the biometric desk for a child; under-12s give no fingerprints but must be present.
- Do not pay for an online visa without checking where the site comes from; no official page read offers one.
- Do not expect a long-stay visa at the airport.

Illustrations, not real photos. The official rules above always take priority; some documents do not allow glasses at all.
Babies and children
Children apply like adults. At the airport desk, fingerprints are compulsory for everyone except minors under 12, but those children must still be present. No separate photo size or exception for children is published for the embassy visas.
Printed and digital photos
Embassy visas are paper files: the Brussels business and courtesy lists ask for two printed photos with the signed form. For the airport visas, no print is listed because the photo is taken during enrolment. No digital photo size or file format is published for any Comoros visa.
If you take your embassy photo at home, it can be cropped to 50 mm x 70 mm and printed at a photo counter.
Where to submit the photo
For private visit, tourist and research visas, apply on the spot at Prince Saïd Ibrahim International Airport or at Ouani airport. For a business or courtesy visa, apply at the Comorian embassy in Brussels, which lists its documents and offers a downloadable visa form.
Under the 1988 law the Minister of the Interior issues the standard visas and the Minister of Foreign Affairs the diplomatic and certain service visas, and embassies may issue several types on delegation. Other missions may publish their own lists.
