Overview
Tokelau is a territory within the Realm of New Zealand and its people are New Zealand citizens, so the passport to plan for is the New Zealand passport, issued by the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA). The Government of Tokelau says every resident needs a valid passport to travel outside Tokelau. Applicants either use the online service, uploading a digital photo, or post a paper form with two printed photos; DIA aims the adult paper form at people without internet access. Tokelau-born applicants send an original birth certificate with a first application.
