Overview

Maldives Immigration issues Maldivian passports. Applications are made online on the IMUGA portal, from the Maldives or from abroad, and the applicant uploads the photo. The application pages ask for an uploaded photo and mention no paper photo for a normal application. They describe Immigration taking the photograph itself for applicants aged 65 or over who visit in person without a photo, and for medical-emergency applicants who present their medical document at the office.

One photo guide, the Maldives Passport Photo Standard, covers the passport. Immigration says it is also followed for its other identification documents, such as the Passport Card, which is applied for through IMUGA. This overview covers the passport only. The passport page sets out the face size, background, recency, glasses, head covering, children and editing rules.
