Bahamas eVisa photo requirements
The 2 × 2 in photo rules set by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Bahamas for the Bahamas eVisa, with the official wording and sources.
Quick answer
What size is the Bahamas eVisa photo?
The Bahamas eVisa portal run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wants one recent digital photograph, 2 x 2 inches at 600 dpi (1200 x 1200 pixels), in colour on a plain white or off-white background, taken within six months of applying. The portal checklist says jpg, while a supporting-documents list says pdf. No pixel range or file size limit is published, and selfies are refused.
The Bahamas has an official Electronic Entry Visa (EEV) service on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Consular Division portal. You create the application online, attach scanned supporting documents and one digital photograph, and pay the fee by credit or debit card. An Electronic Entry Visa does not guarantee entry, and officers at the border can still deny it.
The portal is a script-driven application, so the upload screen itself is not published as text. What the Ministry does publish is a one-page photograph specification, version 1.1, dated 14 April 2020, and the checklists on its eVisa page, which carries a last-updated stamp of 2026.04.01. Those sources agree on the size and resolution but not on the file type, and neither gives a file size limit or a pixel range.
Each applicant, including a child, has one photograph attached. For a child, a parent adds a copy of the birth certificate to show the relationship. After you submit, the Visa Office may contact you by email, and the portal then lets you send a new photograph.

In the official words
Exact wording from the official sources, quoted because the details matter:
Photograph should be 2x2 inches at 600 dpi
Between 480 pixels wide by 640 pixels high and 4800 pixels wide by 6400 pixels high
Key requirements
- One digital photo per application
Self-sponsored visitor, sponsored visitor and seaman's visa lists each ask for one digital passport-sized photograph. The portal checklist asks for an "Acceptable recent digital photograph in jpg".
- jpg or pdf: the Ministry disagrees with itself
The eVisa page says "pdf format" in each visa category list but "jpg" in the portal checklist, and an earlier self-sponsored sheet says jpg. The checklist is the screen closest to the upload, so a jpg file is the safer choice.
- 600 dpi
The specification gives the size as 2 x 2 inches at 600 dpi, which is 1200 x 1200 pixels. It does not state a minimum or maximum pixel size.
- Taken within six months
The photograph should be no more than six months old at the time of the application. A photo from an older passport or visa does not qualify.
- Plain white or off-white, in colour
The background is plain white or off-white and the photograph is in colour. Clothing should be in colour with the shoulders covered, with no military or civil servant badges or ornaments.
- Selfies are refused
The specification says "No Selfies", and requires a full face view with the applicant facing the camera directly, a neutral expression and the mouth closed.
- Hair, ears and head coverings
The hairline and ears must be visible. A head covering is allowed only for medical or religious reasons, with a formal written request approved by the Visa Office.
- Resubmission through the portal
Applicants contacted by email by the Visa Office can use the section of the portal for contacted applicants to pay the visa fee, submit a new photograph or submit documents. The page warns others not to use it.
Do's and don'ts
Do
- Save the photograph as a jpg file at 2 x 2 inches and 600 dpi
- Check that the photo is less than six months old
- Have someone else take it, with you facing the camera
- Keep a neutral expression and a closed mouth
- Leave your hairline and ears visible
- Pick the processing office closest to you in the portal
Don't
- Do not upload a selfie
- Do not use a coloured or patterned background
- Do not wear clothing with military or civil servant badges
- Do not use the contacted-applicants section unless the Visa Office emailed you
- Do not use a photograph older than six months
- Do not upload a head-covered photo without an approved request
Sample photos

Illustrations, not real photos. The official rules above always take priority; some documents do not allow glasses at all.
Glasses
Neither the Ministry's photograph specification nor its eVisa page says anything about glasses, so no published rule allows or bans them. The requirements that are stated, a full face view, a neutral expression and visible hairline and ears, apply to everyone. The Visa Office approves every photograph, and the contact address on the eVisa page can answer a question about glasses before you upload.
Headwear and religious dress
The specification prohibits covering the head unless it is for medical or religious purposes. You submit a formal written request by email to the eVisa office, and the Visa Office must approve it. Everyone else needs the hairline and ears visible and not hidden by hair or clothing.
Babies and children
The eVisa page has no separate photograph rules for children. A child's visa is applied for with the same single digital photograph, and the application adds a copy of the child's birth certificate to prove the parental relationship. The application form is completed by the applicant or a guardian.
Printed and digital photos
The eVisa channel is digital only. Nothing on the Ministry's eVisa page asks for a print, and the supporting documents are scanned copies attached to the application. At 600 dpi a 2 x 2 inch photograph is 1200 x 1200 pixels. A digital photo can be cropped and resized to that pixel size. If you want a paper copy as well, it can be printed on a 4x6 inch sheet at a photo counter.
Where to submit the photo
Use the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' eVisa online services, reached from the Ministry's eVisa page. You need a valid email address, a passport valid for more than six months, the visa and entry type, the photograph in jpg, the scanned PDF documents and a Visa, MasterCard or American Express card. You then pick a preferred appointment office, where an interview may be held.
The Ministry's support team in Nassau answers email and telephone enquiries during business hours. If you are told to resubmit a photograph or documents, return to the application homepage and use the tracking and resuming options.
How to get your Bahamas eVisa photo
- Check the official requirements. Read the official specification for the Bahamas eVisa: 2 × 2 in print, 1200 × 1200 px digital file, plain white or off-white background. Check the rules on pose, expression, glasses and headwear below.
- Take the photo. Follow the key requirements: one digital photo per application; jpg or pdf: the Ministry disagrees with itself; 600 dpi; taken within six months.
- Prepare a print or digital file. The eVisa channel is digital only. Nothing on the Ministry's eVisa page asks for a print, and the supporting documents are scanned copies attached to the application. At 600 dpi a 2 x 2 inch photograph is 1200 x 1200 pixels.
- Submit the photo with your application. Use the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' eVisa online services, reached from the Ministry's eVisa page.
Bahamas eVisa photo FAQ
2 x 2 inches at 600 dpi, which is 1200 x 1200 pixels. That is the size in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' eVisa photograph specification. No official page read gives a pixel range or a file size limit.
No Bahamian eVisa page gives either. 480 x 640 pixels appears only in the Department of Immigration's permit portal FAQ, as the minimum for permit-renewal photographs, which is a different service. The eVisa specification says 2 x 2 inches at 600 dpi.
The portal checklist says jpg, and the 2020 self-sponsored sheet says jpg. The supporting-documents lists on the eVisa page say "pdf format". Because the Ministry is inconsistent, use jpg as the checklist says, and contact the eVisa office if the portal rejects it.
Both are 2 x 2 inches. The eVisa photo is one digital file at 600 dpi, while an in-person passport application uses three prints. The Passport Rules for passports also give a head height and a ban on retouching, which the eVisa specification does not.
No. The photograph must be no more than six months old at the time of the application. The supporting documents have the same six-month limit where the Ministry says so.
Only applicants contacted by email by the Visa Office should use that section of the portal. Go to the application homepage and choose the option to submit a new photograph. It sits beside the options to pay the visa fee and submit documents.
Only for medical or religious purposes, with a formal written request submitted and approved by the Visa Office. The hairline and ears must be visible.
No official page read describes a Bahamas Travel Health Visa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' eVisa service is for the Electronic Entry Visa, which applies to travellers whose nationality requires a Bahamian visa. Its photograph rules are the ones on this page.
