Armenia eVisa photo requirements
The 2 × 2 in photo rules set by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia for the Armenia eVisa, with the official wording and sources.
Quick answer
What size is the Armenia eVisa photo?
The foreign ministry's E-VISA Issuance System asks for a recent photo, uploaded together with a scanned copy of your passport. Its upload field takes JPG, JPEG, PNG or BMP images of up to 10 MB. The portal publishes no size in inches, millimetres or pixels and no background colour, so the 2 x 2 inch, 600 x 600 pixel figure often quoted has no official basis. Processing normally takes 3 working days.
Armenia's electronic visa is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the E-VISA Issuance System, which the ministry's terms call a secure government portal run by the ministry. The ministry's visa page sends e-visa applicants there, and Hartak, the national services gateway, says it serves holders of ordinary passports or travel documents from a list of eligible countries, with visas for stays of up to 21 days or up to 120 days.
Everything happens online. You click to apply, choose the passport type and issuing country, enter an email address and confirm it through the link you receive, then fill in the form and upload the documents. Hartak names four requirements: the completed online form, a scanned copy of the passport or travel document, a recent photo, and payment of the state fee. Some nationalities must add more. For Indian ordinary passport holders, the embassy in New Delhi requires travel medical insurance plus either a valid residence permit or visa of a listed country, or a return air ticket reservation, an invitation and proof of financial means.
Processing time is normally 3 working days, counted from the next business day after you submit the application online, and the ministry may ask for more information or documents, which can delay it. The photo itself comes with very little published guidance, which the sections below set out.

Key requirements
- A recent photo, uploaded online
Hartak lists a "Recent photo" among the mandatory items, beside the completed online form, the scanned passport and the state fee. It sets no number of months.
- Image files of up to 10 MB
The photo field on the portal accepts files ending in .jpg, .jpeg, .png or .bmp and refuses anything over 10 MB. Formats such as HEIC, WebP or PDF are not on its list, so convert a phone picture before uploading.
- No published dimensions
Neither the portal, its terms and conditions, the ministry's visa page nor Hartak states a size in millimetres, inches or pixels, a head size or a background colour for the e-visa photo.
- Check the validation examples
Beside the upload box, a photo validation link opens sample pictures: three marked valid, and a set of invalid ones, which are the closest thing the portal offers to written photo rules.
- Extra documents for some nationalities
The embassy in India lists travel medical insurance for every Indian e-visa applicant, plus a qualifying residence permit or visa, or else a return ticket reservation, an invitation and proof of funds. Other nationalities should check their own list.
- Fees are not refunded
The terms state that the visa fee is non-refundable and that a refusal is not subject to refund or appeal except as the law provides. Check the photo and every field before you pay.
Do's and don'ts
Do
- Upload a recent photo of yourself as a JPG, JPEG, PNG or BMP file
- Keep the photo file under 10 MB
- Open the photo validation examples on the form before uploading
- Scan the passport clearly, since it is uploaded beside the photo
- Apply only through the foreign ministry's own E-VISA portal
- Allow at least 3 working days, counted from the next business day
Don't
- Do not upload a HEIC, WebP or PDF file as the photo
- Do not use an old picture: the portal asks for a recent one
- Do not treat 600 x 600 pixels as an official requirement; the portal names no pixel size
- Do not pay before checking your details: the fee is non-refundable
- Do not apply online if your nationality must have an invitation; use a mission

Illustrations, not real photos. The official rules above always take priority; some documents do not allow glasses at all.
Babies and children
The portal's terms say the site is intended for use by adults over 18 years of age, and none of the official pages read gives a separate photo rule for a child. Hartak's visa service charges no state fee for people under 18 and, for a minor, asks for the passport of a parent or guardian and proof of the relationship.
Printed and digital photos
This route is digital only: you upload an image file, not a print, and nothing is posted to the ministry. A phone or camera photo can be cropped around the head and shoulders, saved as JPG and checked against the 10 MB ceiling before you upload it.
Because the portal names no pixel size, the practical limits are the file type, the file size and the validation examples. A clear, evenly lit, front-facing picture is the safest choice.
Where to submit the photo
Apply on the foreign ministry's E-VISA portal. Its contact line and email for visa questions are listed on the portal's front page. If your nationality needs an invitation, the ministry says the visa can be obtained only at an Armenian diplomatic mission, so the e-visa is not an option.
Once in Armenia, a stay can be lengthened only through the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs: the applicant or an authorised representative goes in person, without an online appointment, to 14 Tairov Street in Yerevan before the visa expires.

Armenia eVisa photo FAQ
No size is published. The portal, its terms and the ministry's visa page give no millimetre, inch or pixel dimensions; the photo field only limits the file type and sets a 10 MB ceiling.
JPG, JPEG, PNG and BMP. Those are the only extensions the portal's photo field accepts, so convert HEIC or WebP phone pictures first.
No official page read says so. The portal states no pixel size, and the 600 x 600 pixel and 10 to 2000 KB figures found online do not come from the foreign ministry.
The portal does not name a colour. Use a plain, evenly lit background and compare your picture with the valid and invalid examples behind the photo validation link.
The terms say normally 3 working days, counted from the next business day after you submit online. The ministry may ask for more documents, which can delay the decision.
A scanned copy of your passport or travel document, plus any supporting documents your nationality needs, such as travel medical insurance, a residence permit, an invitation or proof of funds.
No. Embassies ask for a 35 x 45 mm printed colour photo on the paper form, while the e-visa takes an uploaded image with no stated size.
