At a glance

The Lithuanian passport is issued by the Migration Department in Lithuania and by embassies abroad. Embassies photograph adults and children over 2 at the visit, so no print is needed. Prints are asked for children under 2 and temporary documents. The official print standard is a 40 x 60 mm sheet of at least 3 identical photos, cut to 35 x 45 mm, on a very light background.

Overview

The Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior issues Lithuanian passports and national ID cards to citizens living in Lithuania. Citizens living abroad apply at a Lithuanian embassy or consular office, and in the United Kingdom also through VFS Global centres for ID cards. You attend in person, and in most cases the office or embassy takes the photograph during the visit.

The same photograph standard covers the passport and the ID card, and it covers other Lithuanian personal documents too. It sets out how a print should be made and framed when one is required, for example for a child under 2 or for a temporary travel document. The passport page gives the full detail, including the channels checked and the glasses, headwear and background rules.
