Overview

The Faroe Islands have one document in this guide, the passport. Residents hold a Danish passport, and the police application form lets the police record whether the passport is the Faroese or the Danish type. It is issued by the Faroese Police (Føroya Politi) under a Danish order for the Faroe Islands, not by a municipality.

You apply in person at one of the four police stations, in Tórshavn, Klaksvík, Tvøroyri or at Vágar Airport, and the police ask you to bring a completed form, a passport photo and your birth or name certificate. The photo is a print: the police pages describe no upload. The size, head height and background come from the Danish police photo guide, and the Faroese page adds the 1-year age limit.
