Bahrain visa photo requirements
The photo rules set by Nationality, Passports & Residence Affairs, Ministry of Interior for the Bahrain visa, with the official wording and sources.
Quick answer
What are the Bahrain visa photo requirements?
No photo size is published for the Bahrain eVisa. NPRA's document lists for its eVisas ask for a passport copy valid for more than 6 months, a hotel booking or address in Bahrain, a return ticket and a bank statement, but no personal photo. If the online form asks you for a photo, follow the instructions shown on that screen.
Visas for Bahrain are issued by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) of the Ministry of Interior. Most visitors apply on the eVisa website, which NPRA describes as the only official website to apply for a visa to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and every nationality needs a visa except citizens of the other Gulf Cooperation Council states. Visitors from more than 200 countries can use eVisas, and visitors from more than 60 countries can get a visa on arrival.
The application runs in a fixed order: check your eligibility, choose a visa type and read its conditions, fill in the form, attach the required documents, then pay the application fee. NPRA reviews the application and emails you; once it is approved you pay the visa fee. The published document lists for the visit eVisas do not include a personal photo, and NPRA publishes no photo size, background or file limit for the eVisa. This page sets out what is published and where a photo can still come up.

Key requirements
- No photo in the published lists
The national portal's pages for the two-week single-entry eVisa and the family-visit eVisa list a passport copy, a hotel reservation, a return ticket and a three-month bank statement in English. NPRA's own pages for its multiple-entry eVisas list the same kinds of documents. None of them lists a photo.
- Apply only on the official site
NPRA warns that no website or company operates on behalf of the Government of Bahrain and that its eVisa site is the only official place to apply. A copycat site's photo rules do not come from NPRA.
- A passport valid for more than 6 months
The passport copy you attach must show a passport valid for more than 6 months, and you must enter Bahrain on the same passport you used to apply.
- One application per traveller
Each applicant must provide his or her own passport. Dependants endorsed in a parent's passport are not covered by that parent's application.
- Every requested file category
The Next button on the attachment step stays inactive until you have selected all the requested file categories. If something is missing after you submit, NPRA emails you and lets you attach the missing documents.
- No corrections after submitting
A submitted visa application cannot be edited. To fix a mistake in your details you ask NPRA to cancel the visa from your registered email and then apply again.
Do's and don'ts
Do
- Check your eligibility on the eVisa site before you apply
- Read the conditions shown for the visa type you choose
- Attach a clear passport copy valid for more than 6 months
- Upload a file for every category the form asks for
- Use the same passport to travel as you used to apply
Don't
- Do not apply through unofficial visa websites
- Do not assume a photo size from a commercial site is official
- Do not list children on a parent's application
- Do not submit with wrong details: applications cannot be edited
Babies and children
Children need their own application. NPRA's eVisa FAQ says each applicant must provide his or her own passport, so a child endorsed in a parent's passport cannot travel on the parent's visa.
NPRA publishes no separate photo rules for children's visas. A child's application needs the same documents as an adult's for the visa type chosen, including a passport copy valid for more than 6 months.
Printed and digital photos
The eVisa is electronic from start to finish. Documents are attached as files, and no visa is stamped in your passport before you arrive: you show your passport at passport control and the visa is issued there. You can print the visa from the site after approval by using the check-your-visa option.
Because NPRA publishes no photo specification for the eVisa, there is no official print size and no pixel size to work to. The attachment step shows the file categories it requires; if a photo category appears there, use a recent, clear photo and follow any size or format note shown on that screen.
Where to submit the photo
Apply on NPRA's eVisa website. Nationals who are not eligible for an eVisa need a guarantor in Bahrain, such as a company, an airline, a hotel, a travel agent or a Bahraini citizen, to apply for them. NPRA also lets applicants submit through the Kingdom of Bahrain's embassies abroad and collect the visa from the nearest embassy.
Some nationalities can get a visa on arrival at the airport instead. Once in Bahrain, a visit visa can be extended at NPRA's main office in Manama or at the Ministry of Interior service centre in Muharraq.

- Prepare a print or digital file. The eVisa is electronic from start to finish. Documents are attached as files, and no visa is stamped in your passport before you arrive: you show your passport at passport control and the visa is issued there.
- Submit the photo with your application. Apply on NPRA's eVisa website. Nationals who are not eligible for an eVisa need a guarantor in Bahrain, such as a company, an airline, a hotel, a travel agent or a Bahraini citizen, to apply for them.
Bahrain visa photo FAQ
NPRA does not list one. The published requirements for the visit eVisas are a passport copy valid for more than 6 months, a hotel reservation or address in Bahrain, a return ticket and a bank statement. If the form asks for a photo when you reach the attachment step, upload what that screen requests.
No official size is published for the Bahrain eVisa. Neither NPRA's visa pages nor the national portal's eVisa service pages give dimensions, a background colour or a file size for a visa photo. Sizes quoted on commercial photo websites are not NPRA rules.
For the two-week single-entry eVisa the national portal lists a copy of the passport, a hotel reservation, a return ticket and a three-month bank statement in English showing regular income. A family-visit eVisa also needs official documents proving the relationship, such as a birth or marriage certificate.
NPRA emails you that the application needs correction or an additional attachment. You then retrieve the application, attach the missing documents or correct the flagged data, and submit it again for processing.
No. NPRA says each applicant must provide his or her own passport, so every child needs a separate application, even if the child is endorsed in a parent's passport.
Yes. NPRA's eVisa site states that it is the only official website to apply for a visa to the Kingdom of Bahrain and warns that no website or company operates on behalf of the government.
