Georgia eVisa photo requirements
The 35 × 45 mm photo rules set by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia (e-Visa portal) for the Georgia eVisa, with the official wording and sources.
Quick answer
What size is the Georgia eVisa photo?
The official Georgian e-visa portal asks for one photo, uploaded as a JPG, JPEG, PNG or BMP file of up to 5 MB. Its FAQ asks for a photo from the last 6 months, facing the camera, with the head from hair to chin 50% to 70% of the image height. The portal publishes no size in millimetres or pixels and lists mobile device photos and snapshots as not acceptable.
The e-visa portal is run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. It lets eligible short-term visitors get a visa without visiting an embassy or consulate: you apply, pay online and print the e-visa. The portal says it is for short stays of less than 90 days, that you can apply only while you are outside Georgia, and that you must pick your country according to the passport you will travel on. The ministry also warns that it is not related to any private company offering to submit Georgian e-visa applications.
Before you start, the application page lists the documents you will upload in later steps: a photo, the passport scanned in a single PDF, a copy of the supporting document, proof of accommodation, a return flight ticket, travel insurance, proof of financial means and proof of the travel purpose. Its FAQ says all documentation should be in English or Georgian.
The photo rules sit in the FAQ under "Photo requirements". They cover how recent the photo is, the pose, the size of the head, head coverings, photos of children and the kinds of photo the portal will not accept. They give no dimensions in millimetres or pixels, and the sample-photos document the FAQ links to was not available when checked.

Key requirements
- One photo, uploaded online
The application page lists "PHOTO" first among the documents to upload, and the FAQ says you need a valid travel document, a photo and a credit or debit card. Each traveller, including a child included in a parent's passport, needs a separate application.
- JPG, JPEG, PNG or BMP, up to 5 MB
The portal's upload check shows the message: "File size must not exceed 5 MB. Only JPG, JPEG, PNG and BMP files are allowed." Other formats, such as HEIC, are not on the list.
- Taken in the last 6 months
The FAQ says: "Your photo should be taken within 6 months of submitting your application and reflect your current appearance."
- Face the camera; head 50% to 70% of the height
The FAQ says you must directly face the camera and that profile shots will not be accepted. Your head should be between 50% and 70% of the image's total height, measured from the top of the head, including the hair, to the bottom of the chin.
- Head coverings only for daily religious wear
You may wear a hat or head covering only if you wear it daily for religious purposes. Your full face must be visible, and the head covering cannot obscure your hairline or cast shadows on your face.
- Photos that are not accepted
The FAQ rejects photos copied from driver licences or other official documents, and says: "Snapshots, magazine photos, low-resolution vending machine photos, mobile device photos or full-length photos are not acceptable."
- No millimetre or pixel size on the portal
Neither the application page, the FAQ nor the about page gives a size such as 35 x 45 mm or 4 x 5 cm, or a pixel size. Only the head proportion, the file type and the 5 MB limit are published.
Do's and don'ts

- Save it as a JPG, JPEG, PNG or BMP file under 5 MB
- Face the camera directly, with your whole head in the frame
- Keep your head between 50% and 70% of the image height
- Use the official portal only, not a private company that offers to apply for you
Don't
- Do not upload a profile or three-quarter view
- Do not use a photo copied or scanned from a driving licence or other document
- Do not upload a snapshot, a magazine picture or a full-length photo
- Do not wear a hat or cap unless you wear it daily for religious reasons

Sample photos
How a Georgia eVisa photo should look, and the mistakes that most often get photos rejected. Each example is drawn to this document's 35 × 45 mm, head height and background colour.
Illustrations, not real photos. The official rules above always take priority; some documents do not allow glasses at all.
Headwear and religious dress
A hat or head covering is allowed only if you wear it daily for religious purposes. The face must be fully visible, and the covering must not obscure the hairline or cast shadows on the face.
Babies and children
Every traveller needs a separate e-visa, whatever their age: a child included in a parent's passport still needs a separate travel document and a separate application. In the photo, the child must be the only person, and nothing used to support the child should be in the frame, including the arms or hands of a parent holding the child.
Printed and digital photos
Nothing is printed for the portal: you upload a file, and the finished e-visa comes back as a PDF to print yourself. A digital photo can be cropped and resized before it is uploaded; the portal sets no pixel size, so the main limits are the file type, the 5 MB ceiling and the head proportion.
The FAQ calls mobile device photos and low-resolution vending machine photos unacceptable, so a phone photo should be sharp and full resolution. The portal does not say how it checks them.
Where to submit the photo
Apply on the official e-visa portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. The steps are the citizenship or country, travel information, terms and conditions, personal information and verification. The portal says the support desk can be reached at its contact email on weekdays between 09:00 and 18:00 (UTC+4).
If you would rather apply in person, you can use a Georgian embassy or consulate, which has different photo rules and is covered on the consular visa page. Do not use the e-visa portal if you are already in Georgia.
