Quick answer

What size is the Morocco visa photo?

For a Moroccan e-visa, upload a colour photo of 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 in), taken within the last 6 months and clearly showing your face in line with ICAO standards, as a JPG, JPEG or PDF of up to 1 MB. Paper applications at embassies and consulates ask for two recent colour photos on a white background, sized 4 x 3 cm. Some visa centres set their own format.

Foreigners arriving in Morocco must show a passport and, where their nationality requires one, a visa, under article 3 of law 02-03. Visas come through two channels. The electronic visa is applied for online on the government's Accès Maroc portal, which first checks whether you need a visa at all. Ordinary visas are applied for on paper at a Moroccan embassy or consulate, or through a visa application centre that the embassy accredits.

The e-visa is issued for tourism or business, for a single entry within 180 days of issue and a stay of up to 30 days. It is open to holders of ordinary passports in three groups: nationals of listed countries, visa-bound foreigners who live in listed countries with a residence permit valid for at least 180 days, and holders of a valid multiple-entry visa from listed countries. Diplomatic, service and refugee travel documents are refused online; their holders apply at a consulate.

The photo differs by channel. The e-visa takes a 35 x 45 mm colour photo as a file. The Foreign Ministry's consular list asks for two printed 4 x 3 cm photos on white. Visa centres can add their own instructions: the BLS centre in India, one of the agencies the Moroccan embassy in New Delhi accredits, asks for a square 2 x 2 inch print on glossy photo paper.

Key requirements

  • Use the official portal

The government's eVisa conditions direct applicants to the Accès Maroc portal, and payment goes through the payment site of the Trésorerie Générale du Royaume, Morocco's treasury. Other websites selling Moroccan e-visas are not the government portal.

  • E-visa photo: 35 x 45 mm, ICAO standards

Attach a good-quality colour photo measuring 35 x 45 mm, taken within the last six months, that clearly shows your facial features in line with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.

  • Files of 1 MB or less

Scan every attachment as JPG, JPEG or PDF, each no larger than 1 MB. The same limit applies to the colour copy of your passport and to any residence card or visa you attach for your category.

  • Two 4 x 3 cm prints for a consular visa

The Foreign Ministry's list for ordinary visas asks for two recent colour identity photos on a white background, 4 x 3 cm, showing the features of the face clearly. The embassy in Canberra uses the same wording.

  • Visa centres may differ

Where an embassy works through accredited centres, follow the centre's checklist. The BLS centre in India asks for a square 2 x 2 inch colour photo on white, with the face filling 80% of it, printed on glossy photo paper.

  • One application per traveller

The e-visa is a one-person authorisation, so each traveller needs an application and photo. Families and groups can put up to 10 applications in one file so they are processed together.

Do's and don'ts

Do

  • Apply for an e-visa only on the Accès Maroc portal
  • Use a colour photo taken in the last six months
  • Crop the e-visa photo to 35 x 45 mm
  • Keep each upload to 1 MB or less, as JPG, JPEG or PDF
  • Bring two 4 x 3 cm prints on white for a consular visa
  • Check your visa centre's own photo instructions

Don't

  • Do not pay a look-alike website for a Moroccan e-visa
  • Do not upload a blurred photo that hides your features
  • Do not use an e-visa photo older than six months
  • Do not apply online with a diplomatic, service or refugee travel document
  • Do not expect a refund once an e-visa request is paid
  • Do not send a photocopy where a centre asks for an original print

Babies and children

Every traveller, children included, needs their own visa application and photo: the e-visa covers one person only. A minor under 18 who holds an electronic visa may enter Morocco only with one of their parents or a legal representative.

Neither the eVisa conditions nor the consular list sets a separate photo rule for children, so the same size and quality rules apply to them. Families travelling together can group their applications in one file of up to 10 requests.

The e-visa is fully digital. You attach the photo as a file, together with a colour copy of your passport's identity and validity pages and, depending on your category, your residence card or other visa. No printed photo is needed for the online application, but you should carry the eVisa document when boarding, at the border and during your stay.

Consular visas are paper applications with two printed photos. A digital photo can be cropped to the size your channel asks for and printed on a 4x6 inch sheet at a photo counter; check first whether your visa centre wants glossy photo paper.

Where to submit the photo

Start on the Accès Maroc portal. Its eligibility check asks for your nationality, passport type, country of residence, any additional visa, reason for travel and date of birth, then tells you whether you need no visa, an e-visa, an electronic travel authorisation (AEVM) or a visa from a consulate. If an e-visa is possible, you confirm your email, fill in the form, attach the files, validate and pay, then follow the decision in your account.

For a consular visa, apply to the Moroccan embassy or consulate for your place of residence, or to the visa centre it names. In India, for example, the embassy in New Delhi takes applications only through accredited agencies, including BLS and VFS centres. Bring the application form, the photos, your passport and a copy of its identity pages, your identity card or residence permit, and documents supporting the purpose of your trip.

How to get your Morocco visa photo

  4. Submit the photo with your application. Start on the Accès Maroc portal.
