Belarus photo specifications
Photo sizes and rules for 5 documents issued in Belarus, taken from the issuing authorities and linked to their official pages.
At a glance
Belarus uses three print sizes. The non-biometric passport and the permanent residence application take four colour photos of 40 x 50 mm on one sheet, citizenship applications take four of 30 x 40 mm, and visas one of 35 x 45 mm. The ID card, biometric passport and biometric residence permit need no print, because the office photographs you. A national driving licence lists no photo; the international permit takes one 40 x 50 mm print.
Overview
Most Belarusian identity documents are handled by the citizenship and migration units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. They issue the non-biometric passport, the ID card and biometric passport, and residence documents for foreigners, while the city and district internal affairs departments also receive citizenship applications. Driving licences come from the examination units of the State Automobile Inspectorate (GAI). Visas come from embassies, consulates and the Foreign Ministry's airport division, and e-visas from the E-Pasluga portal.
How you supply a photo depends on the document. Biometric documents are photographed digitally at the office, and attendance in person is compulsory. Paper procedures still use prints, in sizes set by presidential decrees: 40 x 50 mm for the passport and permanent residence applications, 30 x 40 mm for citizenship and 35 x 45 mm for visas. Since September 2023 Belarusian embassies no longer issue passports or ID cards.
