Quick answer

What size is the Cambodia visa photo?

For the official e-Visa on evisa.gov.kh you upload a recent passport-size photo as a JPEG or PNG file; the portal publishes no pixel or file-size limits. Embassy applications need one print attached to the form: 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 in), taken within the last 6 months, in London and Berlin. None of the official pages we read names a background colour.

Visas for Cambodia come under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC). Travellers who are not visa-exempt have three routes. The e-Visa, introduced by the ministry in April 2006 and run by its E-Visa Office on evisa.gov.kh, covers single-entry Tourist (T) and Business (E) visas. The embassy in London accepts all types of entry visa, in person or by post, and Berlin takes embassy applications too. A visa on arrival is available at international entry points.

The photo depends on the route. The e-Visa asks for a recent passport-size photo in digital format, as a JPEG or PNG file. The embassies in London and Berlin want one printed photo of 35 x 45 mm, taken within the last 6 months, attached to the visa application form. London's form also asks for a photo of each child listed on a parent's application.

Visa stickers have ended. From 3 October 2026 Cambodia no longer affixes physical visa stickers to passports, and every approved visa is issued electronically as an e-Visa, the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Berlin announced. Travellers arriving by air must also complete the free Cambodia e-Arrival form, which is not a visa, no earlier than 7 days before arrival.

Key requirements

  • JPEG or PNG for the e-Visa

The e-Visa portal lists the same requirements for the T and E visa: a passport valid for more than six months at entry, a recent passport-size photo in digital format (JPEG or PNG) and a valid Visa or Mastercard card. It gives no pixel size or file-size limit.

  • Wrong photo? Email a new one

The e-Visa FAQ says you can change your photo after submitting the application: send the new photo to the E-Visa Office at info@evisa.gov.kh together with your reference number.

  • One 35 x 45 mm print at embassies

London asks for a passport-size (35 mm x 45 mm) photograph taken no more than 6 months before. Berlin asks for one photo of 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm taken within the last 6 months, and says only one photo is needed for the form.

  • Children on the form need photos

The London form has a section for children under 12 who travel on the same passport as the applicant, and its photo box asks for one 35 x 45 mm photo of the applicant and of each child.

  • Not every border takes the e-Visa

The e-Visa FAQ warns that not all border checkpoints support the e-Visa and asks you to check before applying. At checkpoints that do not accept it, you can apply for a visa on arrival instead.

  • Electronic visas since October 2026

Since 3 October 2026 no visa stickers are affixed to passports for visa applications, and approved visas are issued as e-Visas. The Berlin embassy announced the change for all visa categories.

  • Travel on the passport you applied with

The e-Visa FAQ says travellers must travel with the passport for which the e-Visa was issued. If you hold two passports, apply with the one you will use at the border.

Do's and don'ts

Do

Babies and children

Children need their own photo, even when they share a parent's application. The London form has a section for children under 12 travelling on the applicant's passport, and its photo box asks for one 35 x 45 mm photo of the applicant and of each child.

On the e-Visa portal, each traveller has a separate application form. After the first form, the FAQ explains, you scroll down at the review step and choose Additional Application to add the next person, up to 10 applications at a time. The portal sets no separate photo rule for children, so the same recent JPEG or PNG passport-size photo applies.

If you apply online, the photo is a digital file only: a recent passport-size image in JPEG or PNG. The portal does not publish pixel dimensions or a maximum file size. A digital photo can be cropped and resized to passport proportions before upload.

If you apply at an embassy, you need one print. London and Berlin ask for 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 in), taken within the last 6 months. Other missions have used other sizes: the Washington embassy's visa page asked for one 2 x 2 inch (51 x 51 mm) photo stapled to the form, but that website no longer loads, so confirm the size with the embassy that will handle your application before you print.

Where to submit the photo

Online: on evisa.gov.kh, the E-Visa Office of the MFAIC. You fill in the form, pay by Visa or Mastercard and wait for approval. You download the e-Visa certificate from your email or the portal's Check and Change page and show it to immigration at the checkpoint.

At an embassy: in London, call to book an appointment or apply by post using a tracked service. In Berlin, apply in person during office hours without an appointment, or by post with a stamped, self-addressed return envelope. On arrival: a visa on arrival is issued at international entry points; Berlin advises submitting the e-Arrival form in advance and keeping its QR code ready, as some airlines have refused boarding to travellers without proper documents.
