At a glance

Myanmar passports applied for at home need no photo on the office checklist, while embassies abroad ask for white-background prints of their own size (35 x 45 mm in Canberra, 4 x 6 cm in Phnom Penh). Embassy visas mostly take 35 x 45 mm prints on white or off-white, 1.5 x 2 inches at Singapore. The eVisa takes an image of up to 2 MB cropped to 38:46. Permanent residence needs three 1.5 x 2 inch colour photos.

Overview

Four Myanmar documents need photos in different ways. Passports for citizens are handled by the Myanmar Passport Issuing Board in Myanmar and by embassies abroad. The Ministry of Immigration and Population runs the eVisa portal for tourist and business visas and sets the rules for permanent residence of foreigners, while embassies and consulates issue all other visas on paper.

Only the eVisa is fully digital: you upload a file and crop it in the portal. Embassy passports, embassy visas and permanent residence all use printed photos, and the size depends on the document and often on the mission, so check the page that matches your application.
