This guide covers the Nigerien ordinary passport. Its photo has no published size or background colour. Applicants through the Embassy of Niger in Washington hand in five identity photos with a paper file and have fingerprints taken; in Niger, files go to the Direction de la Surveillance du Territoire (DST).

Overview

Nigerien passports are a Ministry of the Interior document, processed by the national police's Direction de la Surveillance du Territoire in Niamey and by police services in the regions. Nigeriens abroad go through an embassy or consulate, which reviews the file before it is sent on to Niamey.

The government is rolling out a biometric passport under the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), but has not yet published the enrolment steps or any photo specification. Until it does, the embassy checklists are the only official description of the photos.
