Residents of Réunion hold the French passport, and its photo measures 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 in), with a plain light background and white banned. You apply in person at a town hall that has a passport station, and you bring the printed photo yourself, because the counter in Réunion does not take it.

Overview

Réunion is a French overseas department, so there is no separate local passport: residents carry the same biometric French passport as people in mainland France, with the same photo norm. The Ministry of the Interior sets that norm, and the national agency France Titres (ANTS) runs the application system. In Réunion, the town hall takes the application, and the passport is produced in mainland France and sent back to that town hall.

The prefecture tells residents to file at the town hall of their choice, optionally after an online pre-application, and to collect the passport at the same place. The photo must be supplied by the applicant, made by an authorised professional or in an approved booth, and it must be less than six months old. The document page lists the full rules, the appointment advice and the local sources.
