At a glance

This guide covers two documents. The Mozambican passport, issued by SENAMI, has no published photo size: its requirements list a passport-type photo, and missions capture biometric data in person. Visitors request an eVisa or ETA on evisa.gov.mz and upload a recent passport-style photo; visas applied for at an embassy take prints, 35 x 45 mm (3.5 x 4.5 cm) in Tokyo.

Overview

The Serviço Nacional de Migração (SENAMI) is responsible for both documents. It issues passports to Mozambican citizens at home, while embassies and high commissions take applications abroad and record biometric data in person, at their premises or on announced collection days. For visitors, SENAMI publishes the eVisa portal, which since 11 February 2026 handles every online request as an Electronic Travel Authorisation, and the missions still issue other visa categories from paper files.

The photo differs accordingly. For the passport, SENAMI lists a passport-type photo without giving a size, and Washington captures data at the embassy without asking for a print. For a visit, the online request takes an uploaded frontal photo, and a visa applied for at a mission takes one or two printed photos, depending on the embassy.

SENAMI, the national migration service, issues passports in Mozambique and runs the eVisa portal. Embassies and high commissions take passport applications from citizens abroad and issue the visa categories not handled online.

No. No size is published for the passport photo, and biometric data are captured in person. The visa photo is either an upload described as a recent passport-style photo, or a print, such as Tokyo's 35 x 45 mm.

Use evisa.gov.mz, the portal SENAMI publishes and the missions in London and Tokyo link to. Other sites selling Mozambique e-visas are not the government portal.
