Lebanon photo specifications
Photo sizes and rules for 5 documents issued in Lebanon, taken from the issuing authorities and linked to their official pages.
At a glance
Lebanese passports use a 3.5 x 4.5 cm colour photo on white, certified by the mukhtar, and General Security also photographs you at the centre. Residence permits need three photos, 3.5 x 4.5 cm on the courtesy list. Visas at Lebanese missions take 3.5 x 4.5 cm photos. The identity card needs two mukhtar-certified photos and a first work permit two photos, both with no published size.
Overview
Three authorities issue Lebanon's photo documents. The General Directorate of General Security handles biometric passports for citizens and, for foreigners, entry visas and residence permits. The Directorate General of Personal Status of the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities issues the national identity card through the civil registry offices. The Ministry of Labour issues work permits to foreign workers, and General Security then grants the matching work residence.
Photo handling differs between them. Only the passport has a detailed published photo standard: a white background, the face filling 70% to 80% of the frame and a black hijab as the one head covering allowed for women. Passport and identity card prints are certified by the mukhtar in Lebanon, or by the mission abroad for passports. Residence, visa and work permit photos are prints handed in with paper forms, and none of these documents uses an online photo upload.
